6 Months

Half a year since our little one was born and she is getting cuter by the minute. She has learned so much this past month and I know it's just the beginning.

At 6 months, she is . She eats every 3 hours during the day and is eating 2-4 cubes of solids a day. I say cubes because I have been making her food and freezing them into ice trays. After they are frozen I put them in a freezer bag and take out 2 cubes for each feeding. We try to do 1 fruit and 1 vegetable a day but sometimes I get lazy and only feed her one or the other. She has had squash, sweet potatoes, carrots, peas, avocado (doesn't like), bananas, apple and nectarine. She wasn't a huge solid food eater till the day she turned 6 months and ever since she has been eating really good. Guess that's why they say you don't need to start them on solids till their 6 months.

She has pretty much mastered sitting up. Sometimes she will get distracted and fall backwards or try to reach for something and fall forwards but for the most part, she sits for an extended amount of time. She waves. We are trying to teach her to do it on cue when we say hi or bye bye but she hasn't quite figured that out yet. She waves with her wrist so I call it her pageant wave. It's adorbs. She puts her arms up when she wants picked up and she reaches for you when she wants you. Derek was out of town all last week and when he got home she lunged towards him. Melted our hearts. She is scooting a little.  She can push off the ground with her feet and rocks back and forth when she's on all fours.
the wave

Loves touching the carpet and grass

Mama was her first word! She has no idea what it means but she says mmmm, mom, and mama quit a bit. What can I say, I'm her fav :) She mostly says it when she's mad but that's beside the point. We are working on dada. She loves bouncing on your knees to this is the way the lady rides... Going fast like the farmer rides is her favorite part.

She is constantly playing with her feet. It's only a matter of time before she figures out how to get them to her mouth.

Sleeping is 1 thing she is still not the best at. I was hoping she would consistently be sleeping through the night by now but she isn't there quite yet. She goes to bed at 7:30 and usually wakes between 3-5am, eats for 5-10min and then sleeps till about 7am. Sometimes she'll sleep through the night till 6am but then she doesn't go back to sleep so I kind of like the middle of the night feeding more. She naps around 9, 1 and 5 for 30min to 3 hours. Some days she cat naps all day and sometimes she'll nap for at least an hour at each nap. Except the evening nap, that is always 30 min. She is still doing great at putting herself to sleep and prefers to sleep on her side or belly.

We had her 6 month well visit today and we are going to start her on zyrtec for her allergies. The doctor said she has always been a pretty stuffy baby so there's a good chance it's allergies. She constantly has a runny nose and her eyes get red and itchy. Hopefully some medicine will clear her up. We stopped her reflux medicine 3 weeks ago and she has been doing fine without it. She rarely spits up and if she does, it's a tiny bit. The doctor was happy with her motor skills and said she looked great. We are going to introduce meats, puffs and sippy cup of water to her diet. She has tried a sippy twice and does really good at tilting it up and drinking from it.

Collins, you are loved more then you'll ever know and I hope that you'll always find happiness like you do now. I think I've said it before but your smile is so contagious. You start smiling as soon as you hear someone come into your room when you wake up and you smile until you go to sleep at night. I love you with all my heart baby girl.

Mother's Day Festivities

After the carnival on Friday, we headed to El Dorado. Amy, my mom and me all signed up for a Mother's Day 5k for Saturday morning. Amber unfortunately had to work but she did one in KC on Sunday. My mom and I are not runners so we decided to walk the 5k and bring Paxton, Harper and Collins along with us. We were way to slow for Paxton so we told him he could run ahead of us and either stop and wait for us to catch up, or run back to us. Well that didn't last very long before his adrenaline kicked in and he didn't want to stop. Amy had to run after him and once she caught up with him, he wouldn't let her stop. So Amy and Paxton ended up running almost the entire thing while mom pushed Harper in the stroller and I pushed Collins. Harper decided she wanted to run too but that girl is easily distracted so after stopping right in front of the strollers 100 times and stopping at every little thing she saw, we made her get back in the stroller. Mom and I were ready to be done before we hit the 1 mile mark but we pulled through and finished in 51 minutes. I expected it to take an hour to an hour a half to walk so I was happy. Set my first PR :)

The YMCA had a caterer come in and make omelet's and all sorts of yummy breakfast foods after the race. I'm pretty sure I ate the calories I had just burned off. Later that afternoon we decided to treat ourselves for Mother's Day and went and got pedi's. This was Harper's first pedicure and she did so good. She had her own little chair and dvd player. It was freaking adorable. I wanted to include Collins on our girls day so she was a trooper and just sat on my lap while I got my pedicure. Won't be long before she is getting one too.

We ended the day at Amy's best friends house for a bbq. They had just moved into their completely renovated house and were nice enough to invite us over to eat and swim in their heated pool. It was only in the 50s or 60s so I decided not to let Collins try out the pool quite yet. I didn't want her getting pneumonia when she got out of the pool. She didn't last too long before she was ready for her 7:30pm bedtime so nana Jana took the kids back home for bed and let us hang out awhile longer. We got home at 1am and nana was on the couch with a sleeping Collins on her chest. I guess miss Collins woke up at midnight and wanted to sleep on nana. She must have been excited to celebrate my first Mother's Day because she wouldn't let me put her back to bed in the pack n play either and I ended up sleeping on the couch with her. We gotta work on getting her to sleep in the pack n play because we have a busy next month of traveling.

Sunday we took a ride on Amy and Josh's new boat before heading home. It was cold and raining but we were eager for a boat ride so nana Jana was nice enough to stay home with Collins again so we could go for a ride. We can't wait for many boat rides this summer!

We had a great weekend and I loved coming home to my Mother's Day gift, a clean house!! This mama doesn't need gifts, just a clean house and me not having to do it makes me happy!

All Schools Day 2013

Last Friday, we headed to Mcpherson with mom to meet Derek's family, Amy and the kiddos for All Schools Day. Here are pics from last year. We went to the parade, had a picnic in the park and then went to the carnival. I was so excited to ride rides since I was pregnant last year and didn't get to. Well I quickly learned that I can't ride rides like I used to. Me and Amy took the kids on the tilt a whirl and my lunch almost came back up. In my defense, our thing did not stop spinning! Amy and I thought Harper was going to lose it for sure. She was not too thrilled about that ride. Makes 2 of us kiddo. I felt so nauseous when we got off and didn't think I'd be able to put down that funnel cake I was looking forward to. I felt better after about an hour and was able to eat a funnel cake after all. phew!

Collins was such a trooper. She fell asleep during the parade and then took another nap during the first part of the carnival.  She can't wait to ride rides and eat funnel cake next year. I mean, that's what carnivals are all about, aren't they?
