1st Anniversary

This time 1 year ago, I was getting ready to walk down the aisle and become Mrs. Lorson. I was so excited to start our life together and see what our first year together had in store for us. Although we had some rough times, the good definitely outweighed the bad and I can say with all my heart that this has been the best year of my life. Thank you Derek for always being there for me and supporting me in everything I do. I’m so lucky to have you and I can’t wait to add our little bundle of joy into our family. I know you are going to be the best daddy in the world because you’ve already proved to be the best husband. Love you!

Positive!

I forgot to include pictures of the positive pregnancy tests in the last post so I better do it before I forget!

My mom, grandma and grandpa surprised me with Easter baskets full of goodies for the bambino too. So sweet of them, I cried…duh.

This baby is going to be very loved and spoiled. Derek’s sister brought up 6 boxes of 0-3t boy and girl clothes this weekend. I am giving the toddler clothes to Amy and Amber until I am ready for those but I have loved going through the tiny baby clothes. Can’t wait till we find out if this baby will be wearing pink or blue!

Baby Lorson Details

Warning-this is VERY long. I have known I was pregnant for 5.5 weeks so lots have happened already and I am doing this blog so I can one day print it and remember all these details

On March 13th, I had a strong urge to take a pregnancy test. I wasn’t feeling sick or anything and since I have been disappointed so many times with a “not pregnant” pregnancy test, I had been trying to wait until my period started to find out. We were going to Manhattan for St. Patrick's day that weekend and I wanted to tan that week so that was part of the reason I wanted to take a test.  Derek and I were making food to grill and I ran up to our bathroom to take one. I didn’t want him to know but he walked in while I was taking the test out of the box. So I did the test, go back downstairs to distract myself while I wait the 2 lloonnggg minutes and then went back and read the result. I was completely shocked! I was starting to think I would never read “pregnant” on those stupid sticks. I took it out to Derek and said “um babe, I think we are having a baby.” Those were my exact words. I was so excited/nervous/scared etc. I quickly showed him and started calling my family within 2 min. They have been on this long road with us and as much as I would have liked to tell them in a cool way, I was wwaayyy to excited and Amy knew I was supposed to start my period so she would be asking anyway. Derek called his parents and sister as well. Lots of screams and tears were shed that night.

I took another test the next day and sure enough, still pregnant.

That Friday, the 16th, I went to our fertility clinic for blood work to confirm. I was hoping for immediate results but they said they would call in a few hours. Later that afternoon, they called and said congratulations, your levels were at 351, you are definitely pregnant! They like to do a follow up blood work in 2 days to make sure my levels are rising but since that was a Sunday, we scheduled it for Monday.
That weekend we went to Manhattan for St. Patrick's Day. My immediate family already knew and I had to tell 2 of my friends because they knew something was up when I wasn’t drinking Smile I hung out all morning and early afternoon with my family in the Aggieville and then went to my dads to let the dogs out and rest a little bit. Not so much fun being in Aggieville all day when you can’t drink! I met them back out for dinner and then drug Derek home with me while the rest stayed out. It wasn’t too much longer that I got a phone call to come pick up my crazy siblings.  The start of my DDing (and I wouldn’t change it for the world).

Monday the 19th, I went back for my blood work. They said they would like to see my numbers double to know it’s a healthy pregnancy and not a tubal pregnancy. When she called later that day, my level was 1462! Wwwaayyy higher then what I had googled and learned about these numbers. In fact, someone on the internet had my exact numbers and was having triplets! The nurse said levels vary with everyone and it doesn’t always mean multiples, although sometimes it does. I was sure I had twins in there! Derek and I joked about there being twins or triplets in there until my sono on May 2 . I might have laughed about it and he might have been freaking out about it.

April 2 (6 weeks, 3 days) came and of course my appt was at 3:15 so we had to stare at the clock all day.  I was still going to my fertility doctor at this point because they like to keep you till 8 weeks and then send you to your ob. My blood pressure was good but the nurse said my pulse was high. Duh! I was about to have a nervous breakdown! We then had the sonogram done and I was ssooo relieved to see 1 baby, hear AND see the heartbeat! They warned us before the sono that it was early and we might not be able to see or hear the heartbeat yet. I was a little concerned because the hb was only 92 but the doctor said it could have just started beating that day so it might not be real strong yet or hard to pick up. The baby looked great, very small but great. He thought I was maybe right around 6 weeks giving me a due date of November 23, 2012 (black Friday)!

I met with my ob April 5th but only a couple tests were done. Nothing worth noting but wanted it in here for my records.

We scheduled another sono for April 18th (8 weeks, 5 days)so he could measure the baby again and hear heartbeat. Pulse was normal at this appt although I was still very nervous. Again, we saw 1 healthy baby and a very strong, high hb of 180! He said it was completely normal for the heart rate to increase that much and baby looked great with 2 hands and 2 feet. He said I was measuring at 9 weeks, give or take a few days.

So that’s where we are! I have held it in as long as I can and had Amber come over last night to take our picture. I really wanted to wait till 12 weeks but the word was starting to get around and I wanted to be the one to let everyone know. Plus, it was killing me to keep it a secret anymore.  We could not be happier and can’t wait for November to get here. And yes, we will be finding out what it is. Hopefully late June, early July.

Concert

On April 6th, Derek took me to see Lady Antebellum for the second time. We always wait till the week of concerts to get tickets because we usually find really good ones. We were in the 9th row on the floor and paid about the same as people at the very top!

I didn’t know until they came on stage but Thompson Square was the opener. I didn’t think I had heard of them but I knew a lot of their songs and they are such a cute couple. They sing Are You Gonna Kiss Me or Not (love that song).

After they came on, Darius Rucker aka Hootie from Hootie and the Blowfish played.  I think he is such a great singer and Derek and I were happy he played some of his Hootie music.

Lastly, Lady Antebellum played. I liked them before but really fell in love with them when we saw them with Tim McGraw last year. It was actually at their last concert that we heard our wedding song and decided to use it instead of the one we were planning on using. LOVE LOVE LOVE it. Sadly, they didn’t sing it this concert but they still put on a really good show.

Easter

The week before Easter, my brother and his loan officer hosted an Easter egg hunt. It was at an amazing park and was complete with the Easter bunny and 1,000 hidden eggs! Amber and I took Aiden and had a great morning.

Saturday night we went to my mom’s house for pizza and dye eggs. I think us adults had just as much fun dyeing them as Aiden did. Mom sent me home with way too many bags of our favorite Brach’s malt balls. When I gain 20 lbs, I will blame her.

Sunday was finally Easter and we successfully fit and fed 16 people at our house. We had my moms side of the family over and we couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day. Derek and I went to church before everyone came over and then we had a huge lunch and enjoyed the beautiful weather outside on our new patio furniture! Even the Easter bunny stopped by to hide eggs for Aiden! We were sad Amy and her family couldn’t make it but my mom still made all the kids the cutest Easter baskets.

We had a wonderful holiday and hope you did too!

Things I’m Lovin

Happy Sunday everyone! We were busy this weekend fixing our water problem in our backyard, planting new grass (thanks dad for coming to help!), attending an adorable 2nd birthday party for a friend of mine’s little girl, church, mowing, grilling out, attending an Easter egg hunt, hanging with family and our kickball game! I might add that our kickball team is 3-0. 1 game may have been a forfeit but we’re pretty baller regardless. So yes, we had a very busy but fun weekend. Since I am HORRIBLE about taking pictures, here is a post on things I am lovin right now. I will try and start taking more pictures and have a new post soon.

My new Nike Lunar Forever Shoes. I’m usually boring and stick to white, black and grey tennis shoes so they match pretty much everything I wear but I ventured out this time and got hot pink ones. I am loving them for the Spring/Summer

Our new Honda Pilot! This baby drives so smooth and has SO much room. If your looking for a 3rd row SUV and don’t want to join the minivan club, get the pilot. We are so happy with it and I don’t think it’s huge like some of the other 3rd row SUV’s we looked at.

Ocedar Pro Mist Mop. I was getting sick of buying swiffer pads and swiffer solution so I gave this mop a try. LOVE it! You can make your own solution which is so much cheaper then the swiffer stuff AND the pad is washable! I love the microfiber pad. It’s really soft on our wood floors. Bonus? The mop was only like $15!

Lady Antebellum music. Well I always love their music but I have been listening to their CD’s even more to get ready for their concert on Friday! We got really good seats and I can’t wait!!!!

The Voice. This is our first season we have watched and we are hooked. I don’t  have a favorite singer because I think pretty much all of them rock. Can’t wait to see who wins. The judges crack me up too.

And last but not least, this list wouldn’t be complete without what foods I am loving! Here are 2 of my recent favorites

Sour Patch Kids Berries. I can’t go to the store and not buy these. They are just the perfect amount of sweet and sour. About to have some now…

sour patch

Philly cheese steak egg rolls. We tried these tonight and thought they were SO good. You can find the recipe here.  We’re gonna try them with a different filling the next time. This one was amazing but we got a few other ideas we want to try. Only thing I would add to the philly ones is sweet and sour sauce to dip them in. We didn’t’ have any but gonna try it the next time. They were also really easy. I used this philly steak which only takes 4 min in the microwave!

Have a great week!
