This and that

  • Once again, TGIF! Besides the lack of sleep, this week has been pretty good. Elsie has been a great puppy but she likes to sleep on my pillow so I haven't been able to sleep very well. Derek has been great about taking her out in the middle of the night (we only have to take her out once around 2 or 3). It's dark, cold, and scary out there so I stay inside :) Zoe and Elsie are really warming up to each other. Zoe snips at her every once in awhile but she's just putting her in her place. I don't think Zoe actually ever bites her, just scares her. They love chasing each other around outside and playing tug of war with their toys.

    Playing with their toys

    Matching bows!!

    • In wedding news, I have started to look at glassware for centerpieces. I am thinking something like this..

Simple square vases with ribbon tied around them

  • My sister and her family are moving to KC tomorrow!!! I can't believe they are going to live like 5-10 min from me!!
  • Dereks going to the Chiefs game tonight so it looks like me and the pups are going to have a nice evening at home.
  • I am excited to go to Manhattan next weekend for labor day, the first k-state game, and to see Paxton and Harper!
  • I'll stop rambling now. Have a good weekend!

Baby Elsie

After a little bit of sweet talking, Derek and I got a new baby shih tzu today!! I have been wanting a new puppy for awhile now but keep talking myself out of it. Yesterday, I was really in the mood to hold a puppy so we went to an animal store AND animal shelter to look at the puppies. I keep saying I will never buy another dog from a breeder and I am going to start getting them from the animal shelter but the animal shelter we went to had mostly all big dogs and we do NOT have the room for a big dog...yet :) So I looked in the newspaper and found a girl selling 9 week old shih tzus. She said she had 2 females left so we set up a time today to go look at them.I saw this face and couldn't say no! I really wanted BOTH of the puppies but picked the smaller of the 2 and sadly left the other one with it's mom. The breeder was very nice and her daughter had done the liter as an FFA project and they aren't one of the mean breeders that breeds their dogs over and over. I felt better buying from them knowing that.
This is how small of a world it is, Zoe's breeder is Elsie's breeder's sister in law! When we were driving to get Elsie, we thought it looked really familiar from where we got Zoe so when we were talking to Elsie's breeder about it, she described the house and told us her sister in laws name and it was the same girl we got Zoe from!! Elsie's breeder said she got her male from her sister in law so Elsie's dad might be Zoe's relation!

I see resemblance!

So Elsie is the newest member of the family and we love her already! She is VERY snuggly and good. We took Zoe with us to pick out the puppy and Zoe growled at them and now Elsie is scared of her :( They are already starting to warm up to each other though. Elsie is very laid back and has spent more time sleeping then playing. I know she is healthy though cause she was running and playing when we went to get her and she will run around when we take her outside. She has went pee and poop outside and has had no accidents in the house so far!! She has completed our family...for now.

TGIF!

I am ssooo glad it is finally Friday!! Not much has been going on in my world. This post is very random!
Last weekend my sister and nephew came up and stayed with us. We didn't do much other then look for them a house. We had no luck Saturday finding them a place but woke up bright and early Sunday, had some french toast (good work Amber) and headed back out to look for them a place to live. We finally found a duplex instead of an apartment and as soon as we walked in, we knew it was it! Aiden will be 2 in December so it was really important to have a lot of room for him to run and play and a backyard! Best of all, it's only about 10 min from where we live! Can't wait for them to move here next weekend!

Work has been rough like always. I take back all the times I have ever said I wanted twins! I feel like I am constantly changing diapers, feeding, and TRYING to get them to sleep!! So glad I can leave everyday at 5:30 and not have to do any of that till 8:15 the next day!

I have done nothing for the wedding in weeks (oops)!! I got a call this week saying my veil should be in the end of November and my dress should be in at the end of December!!

Derek's parents are coming tomorrow so we are excited to see them. We don't have any plans but I have a feeling we will do some shoppping and eating out! Have a great weekend!!

The countdown is on!!

In just 2 weeks and 2 days, this little man will be living VERY close to his auntie Sarah :)
(I of course got him the cute outfit he is wearing)

I am SO super excited to have him, my sister Amber, and her boyfriend Mike move to KC! Let's just say Aiden is going to be very spoiled. His uncle Tony, nana Jana, auntie Sarah, uncle Derek, aunt Alyssa, and uncle Joe all live in KC and papa Long lives here on the weekends (my dads girlfriend lives in KC). Now we gotta persuade these guys to move here and the whole Long family will be in KC!

KC could use a Willies so I see no problem in them moving here :) They could possibly persuade me and Amber to waitress again if they opened one here (slightly kidding).

Decisions, decisions

For the past couple weeks we have been trying to decide where we want to go for our honeymoon. We found a travel agent and he has done a pretty good job giving us some ideas. We REALLY wanted to go to St. Lucia but it's expensive and we can't find a flight that would get there in 1 day. All of them have an overnight layover in Miami. Derek isn't too picky on where we go because he has never been out of the states (well he has but he's weird and doesn't think his mission trip to Costa Rica counts)! I have been to Puerta Vallarta, MX a couple times so I would prefer to not go to Mexico but our travel agent and Derek might have talked me into El Dorado Royale in Riviera Maya. I love this resort because it's an adults only, all inclusive with 13 pools and 8 restuarants! Plus, we could get a room that goes right out to a pool!

BUT...
Ever since Oprah did a couple shows at the Atlantis in the bahamas years ago, I have wanted to go there for my honeymoon.
Now looking into it, I am thinking we will wait for that one. It has a lot of families and kids and I don't think I want to be listening to kids screaming and crying on my honeymoon (I hear enough of that everyday). So my travel agent suggested the Sandals Royal Bahamian! This place looks AMAZING but we wouldn't get as much for our money. It does have this private island that we can take a (I think free) boat too though!! So, I think that's where we stand right now on the honeymoon situation. Hopefully we decide on something soon because it's one less thing to have to think about! Feel free to leave a suggestion to another place we could go. We just want to be on the ocean and have an all inclusive!

Just a little preview...

The Clubhouse at Colbert Hills (where our reception will be) hasn't been open very long so when we went to look at it, she couldn't show us any pictures of how it looks all done up for a wedding. I have been emailing her for like a month now and she finally uploaded pics of it onto facebook. Here are a couple pictures of our reception place!!

It comes plain like the 2nd to last picture but you can add chair covers or ribbon for an extra cost. If you look really hard in the last picture, you can see the chair covers. Not a fan. I do like the ribbon tied around the chairs though. So glad I finally got to see what it looks like! Now I am going to look for centerpieces!!
