Long family vacay

Trying to get up to date on posts so let me take you back to middle of June:

 

This year was our 6th year "camping" with my dads side of the family and we are adding family members like crazy. 3 of us were pregnant this year so you can guess what next year will look like. Baby heaven! 

We got there on Sunday and after unpacking, headed straight to the beach. The green algae warning had been lifted so we were thankful to be able to get into the lake. After only about 30 min, it started pouring. It was quite the show seeing us all scramble for chairs, towels, coolers and kids. We got back to the cabins just in time before a terenchel down pour started. We snacked until the rain stopped and then let the kids play outside while the grills were started for dinner. Some of us adults snuck away for a before dark boat ride and then made it back to tuck very tired kids into bed.  The pregnant girls headed to bed early and most of the others stayed up. 

 

 

 

 

No black out curtains make for an earlier then usual wake up call. Since our cabin was mostly still sleeping, the ones that were awake headed to the adult cabin. Cartoons and a big, yummy breakfast fueled us up and everyone started waking up and getting around for the day. We loaded up the boat and heading out onto the lake. We pulled up to a different beach from the day before and saw what we believe was the green algae we had been warned about. After trying another spot and still seeing algae, me and Collins ditched the water for lunch and naps at the cabin. The others went to the middle of the lake where the water was cleaner but being in the middle of the lake with a 1 year old who thinks she can swim and hates being held, plus a working dad, didn't seem fun to me. Some of the family was at the cabin and my cousin who is a kid at heart, ran into town for baby pools, slip n slides and a sprinkler. They were a huge hit (for the adults and kids) that afternoon and evening. It sprinkled off and on but that didn't stop the kids from having fun. Derek had to work in Wichita that day but made it back in time for the fish fry.  We had smores for dessert and everyone called it an early night.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

We slept a little later on our last morning and then had a big breakfast followed by packing up and heading out. We decided that 2 nights just isn't enough and hope to add another night next year. It's so nice to get away for a couple days and see family that we don't get to see but a couple times a year, some only once a year. 

 

 

 

We had so much fun as always and Collins was in heaven being outside 90% of the day, playing with cousins and eating all day long. Another Long family vacay in the books. Until next year! 

6th Annual Milford Trip

A couple weeks ago we headed to our annual Milford "camping" trip. This is something we look forward to every year and I was so excited to start this tradition with Collins. We meet my dads side of the family at Milford lake here in KS and spend a couple days catching up and having a good time.

It's only about a 2 hour drive but Collins felt the need for me to sit in the back seat with her. I don't argue with a teething baby.

 

The cabins weren't quite ready when we got there so we soaked up some sun and waited for everyone to start arriving.

 

 

 

Once we were able to get inside we changed into swim suits and headed to the beach. Since it was father's day, we let the dads go out on the boat sans children. They pulled the boat up to the beach and Aiden and Pax got on and did some tubing.

We ate dinner, got the kids bathed and in bed and then stayed up entirely too late having some drinks, listening to music on the patio and reminiscing. Amber taught my uncle some dance moves and Amy sang word for word to songs I'd never even heard. Kids go to bed and the mommies let loose.

 

 As always, the kids didn't get the sleeping in memo so we started the next day with a big breakfast and lots of water and Tylenol. We packed up some lunch and headed out on the boat.

 

 

That night was the annual fish fry. My grandparents, dad, aunt and uncles spend the day fishing for our dinner. They got lucky this year and caught quite a bit so we had a nice big fish fry.

 

 

And since we were on vacation and calories don't matter, we ended the night with smores. Cause you can't go camping and not have smores.

 

 

The time always goes way too fast before we all have to pack up and say our goodbyes. We didn't get a picture before people had already started leaving but we got our yearly pic in and headed home.

 

I think it's safe to say that Collins had a great time with her cousins and family we don't get to see enough. We've added a new baby almost every year since we started this family vacay and our cousin Tanner will get to bring his baby boy arriving in a couple months next year!

5th Annual Long Family Vacay

Every summer we head to Milford lake with my dads side of the family. This past weekend was the 5th year we have went and we hope to continue this for many more years. Since our family keeps growing, we had to rent 2 of the big cabins this year. These cabins are the luxury of all cabins. Huge kitchens, 2 living areas, 5+ bedrooms, 2+ baths, flat screens, cable TV, AWESOMENESS! We say we are going camping but this is the farthest thing from camping. We got there early evening Friday and hung out on the patio of the "kids cabin" while dinner was on the grill. We had a pretty late dinner and then tucked the kids in bed and hung out on the patio some more. I finally called it a night around 11 and figured the others would be coming to bed shortly behind me. I continued to wake up every hour wondering when the fools were coming to bed. I finally had to download a white noise app to cover up their loudness. At 3:30, I finally went downstairs and told them to get their butts in bed. My how things have changed :)

I was up at 7am to get ready for our 8am pontoon rental. I of course was the first one up and after peeking in my sisters room, saw Aiden was awake but being captive by his sleepy parents. I signaled him to come out with me and we hung out till 8 when we woke the house up. They weren't thrilled to be waking up after 4 hours of sleep but this momma hen was ready to get on the pontoon! After a quick breakfast, we finally made it to the pontoon...an hour late! The lake was pretty rough so we ended up finding a nice beach and just chilling there. We took the boat out for a little and let the kids take turns driving it. The pontoon had to be back by noon so we drove it in (after almost sinking in waves), had lunch and the majority of us took a nap with the kids. Then it was time for the beach again where we stayed until dinner time. 

We had another yummy dinner that night followed by smores and a game of Minute To Win It. Everyone called it an early night that night and got some much needed sleep. We slept in, ate breakfast and had to start packing up cars and cleaning the cabins. We had such a fun weekend and made so many fun memories. There were countless times I was trying to catch my breath from laughing so hard. We can't wait to take the little bambino next year!
