5 on Friday

Back at it this week for 5 on Friday. I can't seem to finish a post so I'll just dump it all into one. Linking up with a couple favorite blogs:

1. Baby's in leotards. Nothing cuter. Collins started gymnastics with her bestie this week. She did amazing! I was hesitant to do a morning mommy and me class because of Brooks but he quietly watched from his car seat so hopefully we can stay in this class. It will be great to having something to do 1 morning a week this winter.

2. Her binky "broke."  Ok not really. I cut the tips off but I told her that her teeth broke them. She's potty trained and in a big girl bed, it was time for the binky to go. She seemed ok with it until we left the room and then she freaked. And I thought the cry it out method was rough when she was a baby. This might have been even harder cause now she can talk and yell for us. Broke our hearts but the crying is getting less and less. She'll thank me later when her teeth aren't all whack.

3.  This mama is sssooo thankful that the baby is finally happy. He has rarely been crying and just lights up when someone looks at him. Please stick around, happy Brooks.

4.  Little miss turns 2 in a week. Fastest 2 years of my life. She already thinks she's two but is so excited for her doggy party. Too bad I've really been slacking on the planning. Hopefully I don't disappoint her.

5.  I can't put the tree up till after her party but we've busted out the decorations in other ways. We love our ho ho ho cups.

Happy Friday! We're supposed to get snow tomorrow so we'll be staying inside, probably in pajamas all weekend.

5 on Friday!

I'm excited that this link up party has started again.  Great way to compile all my thoughts into 1 post!

1. Yay for Fall!!! We are going to miss our afternoons at the pool but I won't be complaining about the cooler weather, yummy candles, pumpkin patches and Halloween! Collins points out every pumpkin we walk by so she's going to freak when we go to a field full of them!

2.  Potty training is happening this weekend.  We are giving the 3 day method a shot and we have high hopes of getting one of the kiddos out of diapers.  She goes almost every time we stick her on the toilet so I'm hoping she catches on to TELLING us when she needs to go.  I'm not so much looking forward to being stuck at home all weekend cleaning up accidents that are bound to happen.  Wish us luck!

3. He's now 6 weeks but let's go back to the day we brought him home and these oh so adorable pics my sister snapped.  It was a last minute thing but I'm so happy she captured these moments.  I want that tiny baby back!!!

4. 2nd birthday planning.  Halloween, birthday and then Christmas.  Craziest time of the year for us.  I finally picked a theme for her party and I'm anxious to get started on it.  My "doddy" (doggy) lover is getting her wish! I was hesitant to go with this theme but after scoring pinterest, I think we can make it girly and cute.

5. Can't say I've stayed up for these nail biter games but so proud of our Royals.  It's been 29 years since they've been in the playoffs so it's a big deal around here.

5 on Friday

1.  It's not even Halloween yet but I can't stop thinking about Christmas. Collins was only 4 weeks old last Christmas so I'm anxious to decorate the house and see what she thinks of the tree and all the lights. She loved the lights as a newborn and I'm sure she'll love them just as much this year.

Wah!! My baby isn't so little anymore :(

2. We are going to make sugar cookies, eat soup and carve pumpkins on Sunday.  My mom, Amber, Mike and Aiden are going to join us. Carving pumpkins always sounds fun but I always pick the hardest thing to carve and it kills my hand.  Think I'll stick to a jack o lantern this year.

3. Mama and baby are going to be matching in our leggings this fall/winter. I ordered these off Groupdealz and I'm anxious to bust out my fleece lined leggings. Collins is sporting some of her leggings today. Their comfy and cute so it's win win in my book.

4.  Operation get Collins to sleep through the night is in progress. The girl sleeps worse then she did when she was 3 months old! Wednesday she woke up at 10:30 and I finally gave in and fed her at midnight. Last night? 9:30!! She didn't even sleep 2 hours before she woke up. Luckily she put herself back to sleep after an hour. And then I fed her at 3:30. Starting tonight, no feeding. I'm scared and tired thinking about it. Kills me to hear her cry because she is usually so so happy.

5.  I got Derek a smoker for his birthday last month and we have been, in the words of my brother in law "smokin shit." We've done ribs, chicken and brisket. We're gonna do beer can chicken tomorrow. For someone who isn't a huge smoked meat fan, everything has been pretty tasty.  It's nice to have a bigger variety of meat to cook

 Happy Friday!!

5 on Friday

Grab button for FIVE ON FRIDAY AT THE GOOD LIFE BLOG

1. First and foremost, mama finally got an iPhone!! No more crappy pictures and blank spaces cause I couldn't see emoticons. I am finally in the cool club. And I need this case. Serious gold polka dot obsession going on. That's a whole other post though.

2. Collins is finally saying mama!!  She has been a stage 5 clinger and was yelling mama Sunday night when Derek was giving her a bath. And she'll stand at my feet with her arms up wailing it. So I think there is meaning to it too. And as of this morning, she has been saying dada. Not sure that one has meaning but at least we are getting some words out of her. She has been really chatty this week.
And while I'm on a Collins update, the finger pointing she does kills me. She's been doing it for a couple weeks but it never gets old.

3. We have busted out the Halloween attire and her costume is ordered. She's only been able to wear her Halloween pajamas since she would probably sweat if I put her in long sleeves when it's 80+ degrees out. It better cool down quick cause we have lots of festive shirts to wear.

4. Speaking of Halloween, we are taking Collins to her first pumpkin patch this weekend. Then we'll be hitting up another one next weekend in El Dorado and boo at the zoo the following weekend. Can you tell I love October?

5.  First birthday planning is consuming my thoughts and dreams. I changed the theme for the 100th time but I am SO excited with what I decided and can't stop planning. We are taking C's pic next weekend for the invitation. I'll share the theme after invites go out.

5 on Friday: Basement edition

Since Collins' is mobile, we spend the majority of our time downstairs. I never cared too much about anything down there because the daycare kids just snot on the furniture and drive their cars on the walls. Well, we finally got around to fixing it up this last weekend. We still have some work to do but it's looking ssooo much better. And the kids are learning to use Kleenex's and drive their cars on the floor. So rest assured if you come over, you won't sit in snot :)

ONE:  Oh Etsy, you get me every time. I got on there to look for pillows for our basement and 2 hours later (thank you naptime), I have bows, outfits, invitations and pillows for the entire house picked out.

TWO: I was a nice wife and let Derek paint the downstairs purple. It's as close to a man cave as he'll get for now, so purple it is.  We had Collins caged in the playroom so we could paint but nana Jana came to her rescue and played with her all day. I don't know what the brand of paint was but it had absolutely no smell. We told Lowe's we wanted something safe for the baby to be around while we painted and they worked their magic. Playroom makeover is in the near future.

THREE: I used every muscle in my body to help Derek mount the TV. A 50 inch TV is not the lightest thing. Neither was the entertainment center we moved down from upstairs. We were both sore the next day from painting and moving furniture. That's what  happens when you haven't worked out in over 2 months.

FOUR: Someone actually bought our furniture we had downstairs. Just picture red and green plaid couches that used to be Derek's parents forever ago and that he took to college with him. Yeah, they had seen their better days. We bought Derek's aunt and uncle's tan sectional and it makes the world of difference down there. And it has a fold out bed. Bonus!

FIVE: Now we need to do what I am awful at. Decorate. We're going to do Collins' 9 month pictures in k-state stuff so we'll put a couple of those down there and then I found a couple prints on pinterest and etsy I'd like down there. Nothing too crazy because there's a good chance it might get a ball or toy thrown at it.

Now we just need some k-state football! Derek is trying to convince me to put a kegerator down there. Not gonna happen. I'm sure that would really pass daycare legislations.

5 on Friday

Yippee Yahoo it's Friday!! Linking up with Darci for 5 on Friday:

1. I thought Collins looked really cute the other day so I busted out the camera for once and took some pictures. Your welcome.

2. My friend Ashley invited us to her parent's vacation home in Georgia and I just couldn't say no. Our flights are booked and me and Collins will be going on vacay in September!! I'm sad Derek is going to miss her first plane ride, trip to the ocean, etc but with him starting a new job, he can't take off. So hopefully we'll get to do a family vacation later this year or for sure next year! Ashley and I are already planning Collins' and Elsie's matching attire. Maybe we can find some matching things for Ryann too. Eeekkk!!

3. The countdown to K-State football is on! I hung up all of Collins k-state attire and I can't freaking wait to put her in her little cheerleader uniform.  I might be more excited about dressing up Collins in K-State then for the actual games. But we're going to the first game and I can't wait to take her!

4. After a year and a half, we are finally going to start working on the house. We're getting a new to us couch downstairs and hope to start painting and fixing it up down there. We've also been looking at new carpet and have started on the landscape around the house. House projects are freaking expensive!  It's way past due for a makeover though.

5. I love this summer weather but my mind is on Fall. I've already been looking at Halloween costumes for Collins and thinking about birthday and Christmas gifts for her. And of course planning her 1st birthday! I'm still deciding between 2 themes but I've got some cute ideas for both so hopefully I can decide on one soon.
