6 month favorites

Little miss is almost 7 months so here are some of her favorites from this past month.

BabyGanics sunscreen- There's so much talk about how sunscreens are bad so I opted for this one. It's safe for her skin and it rubs in easily which isn't always the case with natural sunscreens.

Baby food- She is becoming quite the eater. She usually has oatmeal mixed with fruit for breakfast, and a vegetable and either some meat or fruit for dinner. Making her homemade meat grosses me out so we have been using the Gerber brand for that. I linked my favorite website for making baby food.

Fisher price shape sorter- She really likes chewing on the shapes and taking them in and out of the box. I'll tell her the color and put the shape where it's supposed to go and she'll hit it through the lid.

Munchkin fresh food feeder- Lifesaver when I am making meals. She loves banana or apple chunks in it. Ice is good too when I think her gums are hurting.

Tommee tippee sippee- (say that 10 times) She hasn't totally mastered these but she can hold them with both hands and does a pretty good job tilting it back to drink it. This sippy's have a soft spout that she loves to chew on and the water comes out easily for her to drink. They say they aren't supposed to leak but they do so I don't love that part.

Five on Friday

Linking up for Five on Friday!

1. New Job- Derek started a new job about 4 weeks ago and I am so proud and happy for him. He's doing medical sales which is what he has wanted to do for awhile now. It involves him traveling 1 week a month but hopefully in the next couple months he won't have to do that and then I'll love the job even more. Other then that week of travel, he has a pretty laid back schedule so it kind of makes up for that week. We are so thankful for this job opportunity and can't wait to see how it betters our future.

2.Busy Busy-We had something going on every weekend in May and we are gone this weekend and next weekend as well. We've gotten to spend a lot of time with family so that's always great but definitely ready for a weekend with no plans other then to sit at the pool and soak up the sun!

3.Getting up on knees-Someone please tell our child to stop growing! She gets up on her knees and rocks back and forth like she is going to take off and crawl any day now. I left for a few hours last night and Derek posted the below picture. Pretty sure pulling up isn't supposed to happen for another couple months!

4. Unhealthy-There has been way too much eating out and frozen dinners and not enough cooking healthy meals and working out. I haven't worked out in a month and I can't even think of the last time we had a home cooked dinner. These things are going to change starting next week!

5. Long family vacay- Next weekend is our 6th annual Long family vacay. So ready for boating, late nights with family, eating our weight in food and of course, starting a new tradition with Collins!

TGIF!!

6 Months

Half a year since our little one was born and she is getting cuter by the minute. She has learned so much this past month and I know it's just the beginning.

At 6 months, she is . She eats every 3 hours during the day and is eating 2-4 cubes of solids a day. I say cubes because I have been making her food and freezing them into ice trays. After they are frozen I put them in a freezer bag and take out 2 cubes for each feeding. We try to do 1 fruit and 1 vegetable a day but sometimes I get lazy and only feed her one or the other. She has had squash, sweet potatoes, carrots, peas, avocado (doesn't like), bananas, apple and nectarine. She wasn't a huge solid food eater till the day she turned 6 months and ever since she has been eating really good. Guess that's why they say you don't need to start them on solids till their 6 months.

She has pretty much mastered sitting up. Sometimes she will get distracted and fall backwards or try to reach for something and fall forwards but for the most part, she sits for an extended amount of time. She waves. We are trying to teach her to do it on cue when we say hi or bye bye but she hasn't quite figured that out yet. She waves with her wrist so I call it her pageant wave. It's adorbs. She puts her arms up when she wants picked up and she reaches for you when she wants you. Derek was out of town all last week and when he got home she lunged towards him. Melted our hearts. She is scooting a little.  She can push off the ground with her feet and rocks back and forth when she's on all fours.
the wave

Loves touching the carpet and grass

Mama was her first word! She has no idea what it means but she says mmmm, mom, and mama quit a bit. What can I say, I'm her fav :) She mostly says it when she's mad but that's beside the point. We are working on dada. She loves bouncing on your knees to this is the way the lady rides... Going fast like the farmer rides is her favorite part.

She is constantly playing with her feet. It's only a matter of time before she figures out how to get them to her mouth.

Sleeping is 1 thing she is still not the best at. I was hoping she would consistently be sleeping through the night by now but she isn't there quite yet. She goes to bed at 7:30 and usually wakes between 3-5am, eats for 5-10min and then sleeps till about 7am. Sometimes she'll sleep through the night till 6am but then she doesn't go back to sleep so I kind of like the middle of the night feeding more. She naps around 9, 1 and 5 for 30min to 3 hours. Some days she cat naps all day and sometimes she'll nap for at least an hour at each nap. Except the evening nap, that is always 30 min. She is still doing great at putting herself to sleep and prefers to sleep on her side or belly.

We had her 6 month well visit today and we are going to start her on zyrtec for her allergies. The doctor said she has always been a pretty stuffy baby so there's a good chance it's allergies. She constantly has a runny nose and her eyes get red and itchy. Hopefully some medicine will clear her up. We stopped her reflux medicine 3 weeks ago and she has been doing fine without it. She rarely spits up and if she does, it's a tiny bit. The doctor was happy with her motor skills and said she looked great. We are going to introduce meats, puffs and sippy cup of water to her diet. She has tried a sippy twice and does really good at tilting it up and drinking from it.

Collins, you are loved more then you'll ever know and I hope that you'll always find happiness like you do now. I think I've said it before but your smile is so contagious. You start smiling as soon as you hear someone come into your room when you wake up and you smile until you go to sleep at night. I love you with all my heart baby girl.
