Brooks at one year!

Happy birthday my sweet and adorable baby boy (a week and a half late).  You are always on the go, fighting with your sister or getting into things you shouldn't.  So, when you sleep, I usually just want to enjoy the stillness. We had a Mexican themed fiesta for your first birthday and I think it turned out super adorable (more on that later. Maybe).  I can't believe a year has already went by! Here's what your up to at a year

Birthday breakfast.  Sissy sang to him all day

Stats| 19lbs 11oz (7%), 29in (25%). He may be a year but he definitely doesn't look it. He's just a little guy.  He's still fitting into 9-12 month clothes and we've started to collect some size 4 shoes. They're a little big but since your not walking, they work. No new teeth this month so still has a total of 8. They've been swollen lately and pediatrician thought some were on the way.

The only way to keep him still for a pic, turn camera around.  Not cocky at all

Eating| We've dropped all but the bedtime bottle and until he'll drink whole milk or we run out of formula, he'll  get that 6oz bottle. He despises whole or soy milk. Wether it's warm or cold. Our pediatrician gave us some recommendations that we are going to try. He doesn't even like Collins' chocolate milk. Must take after his mom and dad, we hate milk. Eating 3 meals and 2 snacks. He eats so so much. At least 2 helpings at every meal.

Sleeping| 12+ hours every night. Occasionally  he'll wake up between 5-6am so I'll give him a bottle and he'll sleep till 8-9am!! 7:15pm-7:30am is the usual though. We skip a morning nap if he sleeps late so he has anywhere from 1-2 naps ranging from 1-3 hours. When people ask if we are ready for another baby I say heck no! We are finally getting some good sleep in this house!

Playing| The fighting!! Already!! Brooks knows just what to do to make his sister mad and boy does she scream and get bad. I'm always telling them to share and be nice. We have a lot of girl toys but if there's a ball in sight, he's gonna get it. He'll drive his trucks around and make car sounds which is about the cutest things ever. He loves playing with things he shouldn't- cupboards, toilet water, dog food (I've lost count of how many times I've pulled dog food out of his mouth),  and anything sister has. We were facetiming Derek and he asked Brooks to blow him a kiss and he did it! I had no idea he could do it.

Health|  Healthy as can be. They did an eye screen at his appt and he passed with flying colors. I held off on the blood draw since he got 4 shots but we'll get his levels checked next week (required at 1 year).

Likes| His mama's constant attention, dancing, food, climbing stairs, climbing the fireplace, climbing, climbing and climbing.  He's enjoying having the freedom to crawl around at the park and go down the slides. I'm pretty sure we've been to our neighborhood park every day this week and he loves crawling through a tunnel on the play system. He's been an awesome house hunter this past month. We've spent lots of time in the car, driving around neighborhoods  and inside random houses and he's been great.

Dislikes| diaper changes, walking by the park and not getting to play, waiting on food, being told no, his sister not sharing and when mama leaves. We've had our first taste of seperation anxiety this month. It's only happened a couple times but it breaks my heart to leave to the sound of him crying.

Words| mama and dada for a couple months now, woah, hi and I think he says sis.

Other then your "witching hour" which is about 4pm to dinner time at 5:45pm, your a happy dude. You can be clingy but I try to remind myself that it won't be long before your running around and not needing me. You'll go to anyone and you have the cutest wave ever.  You've taken 7 steps so I think you'll get this walking thing down this month.  I'm  so thankful that your mine and love you to pieces.

11/21/2015: Birthday shenanigans.  You played with the balloons for several days

1st birthday party

*Our laptop is being a real piece so I had to take screen shots of pictures and post this on my phone.  My sister took great pictures so I'll have to redo the pictures when we figure out our computer. I wanted to get this posted though*

I changed my mind no less then 10 times on the theme and colors for Collins' first birthday party.  I stumbled upon a black and gold twinkle twinkle little star party and knew that's what I wanted to do. Sans black. No girl party is complete without pink and I had her dress already bought so I wanted to tie in some mint so she matched her decor.  Priorities people, priorities. Mint colored things are impossible to find so we had to settle on turquoise on most things.

Ashley was kind enough to create her invite for me. Thanks girl!

The food table
Cupcakes, star shaped sugar cookies and party favors on this table. Some snacky foods where on the counter as well as pink lemonade, water and beer. Gotta have beer at a birthday party.

Other decorations

Auntie Amber made the Collins board. Thanks a ton sis! And no, I didn't attempt those darn tissue poms again. Their from her baby shower.  The twinkle twinkle little star sign and garland are from etsy and I cut out all the stars you see around the house with my bare hands. They ached, big time. The C and chevron frame are from her gallery wall in her room.

Memo and papa got her the chair for her birthday but we let her unwrap it early so she could open presents in it.

I scored the high chair for a whopping $10 at a garage sale and painted it. Loved how it turned out.

And she dug right into the cake after attempting to blow out her candle.

attempted star shaped, edible wands for party favors but they weren't working for me. I ended up with star shaped rice krispy treats and chocolate dipped pretzels with edible gold star sprinkles. All the girls had gold crowns to match the birthday girls crown as well. Wish I would have got a pic of them all wearing them. Even her aunties wore one :)

And if you didn't notice, the guest of honor sported 2 different outfits. The dress was for the party and the onesie and skirt was for the rest of the day. Onesie, headband and crown all came from etsy.

We had a chili feast for family after the party. Chili, baked potatoes, hot dogs, Fritos and crackers. Everything needed to compliment chili.

Followed by cupcake pajamas and bed for an exhausted birthday girl.

Thanks to everyone who came to help us celebrate our little girl. We couldn't have made it through the year without all your love and support.

Busy Busy

Last Friday we went to El Dorado for our nephew Paxton’s birthday party.  He turned 4 on Nov. 1 but my sister had his Rock N’ Roar party on Saturday. The party turned out so cute and it was the first year he invited kids from school so it was fun to see him interact with his friends.

After the party, we ate yummy food my brother in law smoked and watched the K-State game.  Even though we didn’t pull out a win, it was a good game and there was lots of cheering going on. My sister Amber, her family and my mom headed back to KC after the game but Derek and I stayed another night.  In the midst of telling them bye, we must have missed the shake of the earthquake that happened in Oklahoma. Darn!! People in El Dorado, Manhattan and KC all felt it! We had some drinks, watched TV and played a game that Paxton got for his birthday before calling it a night

After being kicked by Paxton all night (worlds worse sleeper), we left El Dorado early Sunday and headed to Galva for our niece Halle’s 4th birthday and party. She had an adorable Princess And The Frog birthday party complete with lots of girly presents. So glad she’s into barbies, dolls and pink. Makes shopping easy and fun! We didn’t stay too long because we still had a 2.5 hour drive home and we will be going back to Galva Thursday for the delivery of our new niece! We are watching our 2 nieces and nephew while their mom (Derek’s sister) has her 4th baby. We are sssoooo excited!

Wednesday we have our final walk through on our house, Thursday we close on it before heading back to Galva, we come back home Saturday and move in on Sunday! So yes, a very busy week but we can’t wait to move into our first home! Lots of pics to come after we get moved in!

Someone’s about to be old :)

Friday we will be traveling to Manhattan for the K-State game and to celebrate Derek's 30th! He's birthday is Friday so we are hoping to get into town early enough (early being 8pm) that we can go to a nice dinner and then head to bed at a decent time so we can wake up bright and early for the big game/tailgate/birthday party.
Our friend lives less then a block from the stadium so we'll be having the tailgate/birthday party there. We have a bunch of friends and family coming and we can't wait to celebrate the big game and the old man’s birthday. The bonus- my sisters are coming without kids!! I love my niece and nephews but it's been ssoo long that all of us could have fun all day and night and not have to worry about going home to a babysitter or being woken up at the crack of dawn!
So yes, we are all very excited for this weekend. Fried chicken has been ordered, balloons have been ordered, decorations have been bought and now I just need to get the rest of the food. Bring on the cats and Derek's birthday! Love you babe!
We usually show up to a tailgate looking like this...

But this weekend it will just be this...

…and our spouses, family and friends of course!
